This sharpener has an E-Z grip handle to keep the sharpener steady while the slots are used to sharpen the knife by placing it in at a 90° angle and pull back the knife a few times to sharpen it.
Sharpener is meant to sharpen the knife at 14° per side. Once the knife has been sharpened, use the carbide side to nicely finish the edge.
